Basic and comfortable accommodation on a working high country farm in North Canterbury.

Our cabins provide a simple and practical place to stay for travellers passing through the property. Guests have access to renovated cabins with power, shared facilities, and a large bunk room with kitchenette.

We have a minimum group size of 2 people and a maximum of 8 people, so if you are booking for 1 person please contact us directly via email infomcdonalddowns@gmail.com

Accommodation Details

Accommodation consists of:

Two smaller renovated cabins with power, featuring a mixture of bed setups depending on the group
One larger shared room featuring a single set of king single bunk beds, along with a kitchenette.
Tenting options also available.

Guests must bring their own sleeping bag

Toilet located directly beside the accommodation for convenience
Additional showering and toilet facilities available in a newly built woolshed approx. 200m away
BYO towel

Check-in & Access Information

Check-in: From 2:00pm
Check-out: By 10:00am
Guests will receive arrival instructions prior to arrival, including:
- Directions to the office
- Lock code for gates

Guests must always remain on the main laneway
Speed limits apply on all farm tracks
This is an operational farm with staff working
Biosecurity requirements apply (clean boots and bikes)
Gates must be left as found
Livestock are present
No pets allowed

Weather conditions may affect access
If access is unsafe due to high rivers, bookings will be postponed to another day
